Sts. Peter and Paul High School

A traditional Catholic education

Our Vision for Catholic Education

St. Francis de Sales

"Those who wish to straighten a young tree,
not only to bring it to the direction in which
they wish it to grow but even bend it
somewhat beyond,
so that it will not return to its
former direction."

St. Thomas Aquinas

“Wonder is the desire of knowledge.”

St. John Bosco

“Try to enlighten the mind while ennobling the heart."

“Remember that education is a matter of the heart”

Our Philosphy of Education

What makes an education specifically Catholic? The emphasis is always on formation of the soul, and not just a catechism or religion class structured as a typical course with books, facts and tests. But instead, the school leadership focuses all its efforts on fulfilling the teaching of the Church and Saints; to live in the presence of God every moment. A great challenge. But every class, every subject, every situation, presents itself as an opportunity for spiritual learning. When everything in the school day is seen through the presence of God, a true Catholic education occurs.

Everything the school does is in pursuit of its ultimate goal to graduate seniors as virtuous Catholic citizens, enthusiastically serving their reigning sovereign, Christ our King, in every facet of their life. Through its actions and values, this High School emphasizes and demonstrates the Catholic reliance on the theological, metaphysical and moral truths that sustain us, and transfers that reliance to its students. The success of students lies in the foundation of their home and parents. God has given parents the ultimate responsibility for their children. Second, God has given us the Church, the Holy Ghost, and the guidance of His written word to assist us in properly raising and educating our children. Third, building upon the first two foundational resources, the school is God’s tool for us to use as we reinforce Catholic values and virtues to further form the character of the student’s soul.

Our Mission Implemented

Catholic education is first of all about the growth of the individual’s soul as it makes its way towards heaven. Next, in preparation for the life vocation God grants them, our students’ education develops their critical thinking skills, their discernment and judgement and lastly, their acquisition of knowledge. More important, through every minute and throughout the smallest activity of the school day, students learn the practice of virtue, recognize the presence of God, and integrate their Catholic Faith and virtue as an integral part of their entire life. Self discipline, dignity, nobility of soul, poise, meekness, graciousness and politeness are cultivated with St. Joseph and Our Lady as their examples of character and moral responsibility. We look for every opportunity to extend the true, the good and the beautiful throughout every nook and cranny of the curriculum, life, and environment of the school.
